Import from Matters

Already write on Matters? Bring your posts in, and moss turns them into a website that's yours.

Your writing on Matters becomes your own website. You add Matters once, log in, and moss copies your posts over — cover images, the pictures inside, comment and like counts. Nothing on Matters changes.

Add Matters

1. Open the channel list. In the top-right of the main window is a small + button. Hover it to see Add channel, then click. moss opens settings on the Channels tab.

2. Add Matters. Find the Matters icon. Hover it — a hint reads Matters (click to add). Click it. The hint flips to Matters (click to remove), confirming it's added.

Right after you add Matters, moss opens the real Matters login page in a small window. Log in the way you always do.

After you log in, the window sits still for about twenty seconds. This is normal. moss waits, checks for you, and closes the window once it's in. No action needed.

Your posts come in

moss starts copying your posts. A slim progress line appears near your writing to show progress — watch near the title, not the bottom of the window.

Progress moves through: Fetching articles from Matters.town..., Found N article(s) to sync, then each post as Syncing article: . The longest stretch is pictures, shown as Downloading n/m.... Posts arrive one by one with cover images, inline pictures, and comment and like counts.

Posts land in a folder named 文章 (Articles) if you write in Chinese, or articles otherwise.

A few notes:

Your site comes together

As posts arrive, moss builds the site and shows it in the right-hand pane. This preview is just for you — nothing is online yet.

Put it online

1. Press Publish. In the top-right is a round button. Hover it to see Publish, then click. moss opens a short setup titled Set up your site.

2. Pick your web address and enter your email. moss suggests an address ending in .mosspub.com, like my-blog, that you can keep or edit. It checks availability and shows Available or Not available. Type your email under Email, then choose Verify email.

3. Click the link in your email. moss shows Check your email and waits (Waiting for verification...). Open the email and click the link. moss notices and moves on. (If you've published with this email before, moss skips this step and the button reads Publish.) If the email doesn't arrive, use Resend or Change email.

4. You're live. moss shows Setting up your site..., then Published. with the line Your site is live and your web address. Click Visit site to see it, or Later to keep writing.

That's it. Press Publish any time to bring in newer posts or update your site.
